Donna Airey, Finance Manager, Clivet UK Ltd and Clivet Aircon Ltd
Clivet UK Ltd and Clivet Aircon Ltd are part of the Clivet SpA group, one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of air-conditioning, heating, and climate control solutions.
From their administration centre located in Fareham, Hampshire, Clivet UK supply air conditioning systems and parts to customers within all residential, commercial and industrial sectors, while Clivet Aircon provides full servicing and maintenance.
Rothmans provide an annual audit service for the company, liaising with the Italian group auditors for the year-end consolidated accounts. Rothmans also provide ad hoc advisory services as required.
When Clivet moved their UK headquarters from Kent to Hampshire in 2004, they required local accountancy services which offered a good level of support.
Donna Airey is Finance Manager for both Clivet UK and Clivet Aircon. Donna explored a number of accountancy firms in the area before selecting Rothmans, whose services she had used when working with a previous company.
“Rothmans ticked all our boxes in terms of requirements,” Donna says. “The deciding factors were location, price and the fact that I had worked with them in the past and knew that they offered an excellent and continuous level of support.”
“An inherent part of our requirements was also that the accountancy firm could liaise effectively with our group auditors in Italy. As our parent group is Italian, and Italy has a vastly different tax system, Rothmans are often called upon to give their professional opinion.
“With Rothmans, we can rely on the breadth of services and expertise of the whole team, which includes tax experts, registered auditors and other ancillary and specialist services we may need.
“Rothmans provides our annual audit, preparation of statutory accounts, P11D and Corporation Tax submissions, as well as tax advice on other matters as required. For example, their advice on the legal complexities of an agency agreement ensured that it did not create difficulties for our business in terms of tax or employment regulation requirements.
“It is extremely useful having a local firm for secure and personal delivery of documentation and to be able to call into the Segensworth office to deal with any matter when needed. I often meet one of the team at regional business events, which also presents useful opportunities to discuss upcoming regulatory issues.
“I find Rothmans to be very supportive. The whole team will work on our behalf if necessary to resolve matters for us, and are always on the end of the phone when you need them. They never try to promote services that are not required, which is also greatly appreciated.
“The flow of information between myself and Rothmans goes both ways – It’s very useful to be able to bounce ideas on how to meet new legislative requirements or put into place systems to deal with anticipated changes as this gives me the confidence of knowing that I am making the correct decisions. When HM Revenue changed their filing arrangements at the end of the last tax year, it was useful to just be able to pick up the phone and compare notes with Rothmans on the best approach to moving forward with new regulatory compliance issues.
“Pensions Auto-Enrolment regulations and pricing structures have altered this year and further changes will come into force next year, so again it is very helpful to ask for Rothmans’ take on what the changes mean for us and to exchange information with them, so that we are both kept in the picture.
“Having built up a good relationship with Rothmans over a long period of time and dealing with the team on a regular basis, we have formed a rapport that I find invaluable.”
