Businesses in the South to get exclusive insight into British success story

Waitrose was recently voted the nation’s favourite supermarket and businesses will get a rare opportunity to find out the secrets of its success at a Business Leaders Lecture at Guildhall, Winchester on 18th June.

The annual Lecture, aimed at supporting regional businesses, is hosted by Rothmans Accountants, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year as one of the South’s largest accountancy practices.

Guest speaker will be Waitrose Commercial Director, Sam Dickson, whose presentation is titled ‘Winning in a changing and increasingly competitive marketplace’.

Previously, Ms Dickson was Head, Brand and Product Innovation for Waitrose for four years, responsible for introducing new brands and re-branding the company’s own brand products. Under her tenure, she oversaw a growth in sales of own brand products to double that of the market average and triple the growth of manufacturer brands sold in Waitrose. She has 26 years’ business experience with household names such as B&Q, Sainsbury’s and WHSmith.

“We want this Lecture to become an important fixture in the regional business calendar, so we are delighted that yet another of the UK’s most prestigious names will be joining us to give the South’s businesses the inside edge,” Martin Osborne, Senior Partner at Rothmans said.

Regional businesses attending last year’s inaugural Lecture received a rare insight into iconic global brand Rolls-Royce Motor Cars from its Global Communications and Heritage Manager, Andrew Ball.

Rothmans holds a number of popular events throughout the year to support businesses in the South, including an insightful and entertaining view of the budget proposals in the spring, and an economic update in the autumn.
