An innovative Southampton business which won the regional title in a prestigious competition sponsored by Rothmans has gone on to claim the national title.
We sponsor the New Business Award in Southampton’s Venus Awards, known as the ‘working women’s Oscars’. Last summer we selected PINKS, a Southampton mum’s childrenswear design business, as a finalist, which then went on to win the regional award.
Last week it was announced at a glittering Grand Final awards ceremony that PINKS has beaten off all other regional winners in her category to claim the 2015 National Title as well.
PINKS founder, Katy Handley-Quint, creates unique and fun designs inspired by her own three little girls. As well as running her business online and at her family-run boutique in Southampton, Katy also champions other local women’s businesses by allowing the store to act as a showcase for their products.
Rothmans Partner, Sue Sullivan, says, “We are not surprised that this fantastic new business has been nationally recognised and we are delighted for Katy.
“She gave up a high-powered job in finance to launch her own clothing label and get a good work/life balance. The fact that she has achieved such success in both goals is a great example to other women looking to set up their own business.
“There were many excellent entries for this award for new businesses under two years old and it is exciting to see that entrepreneurial businesses in Hampshire are prospering.”
