Julian joined Rothmans in 2012 as Senior Tax Manager, having spent 27 years in the profession first in Salisbury and then in Southampton. He was appointed a Director later in 2012. Julian was promoted to a Partner at the Havant branch from April 2014.
Whilst he continues to assist businesses with their general accounting and audit requirements, he specialises in tax planning for both individuals and businesses, alongside regular tax enquiry and litigation, business valuation and expert witness work. He enjoys working with clients to ensure that the advice they receive reflects commercial and family realities. He also provides specialist advisory services to other accountants.
He is a member of the South Coast Chapter of the VAT Practitioners Group and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Regional (Southern) Technical Advisory Committee and is also a regular chair of discussion groups at Chartered Institute of Taxation Conferences. In recent years Julian has joined Radio Solent to comment live on the budget and other tax stories, writes occasionally for technical publications and ‘tweets’ on tax matters as @jlsTax.
Julian lives just outside Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest with his wife and two daughters. Having both lived within the Fordingbridge area throughout their lives, they have many local ties, the strongest of which is to the parish church at Hyde, where Julian served ten years as Churchwarden.
